We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative hands-on biologist to support the discovery and development of small molecules targeting the treatment of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. The successful applicant will have a strong background in Inflammatory Bowel Disease and have direct experience with the development and execution of in vivo models of IBD. This individual will participate in a broad range of programs in a dynamic company and must be comfortable working in a fast paced environment. 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Design, plan, execute and analyze:
  • Proof-of-concept and MOA in vivo studies in IBD
  • Ex vivo immunophenotyping analysis
  • Ex vivo and in vitro immune cell assays
  • In vivo/ex vivo/in vitro assays to explore mucosal healing and fibrosis in IBD
  • Analyze and interpret data and make recommendations for follow-up
  • Present data to multi-disciplinary teams
  • Troubleshoot problems in an independent manner
  • Maintain familiarity with current scientific literature for relevant disease areas in IBD, including Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s Disease, and be able to identify/integrate new in vivo and in vitro models and/or methods as needed
  • Participate in the evaluation and identification of collaborators and CROs
  • Manage in vivo studies placed at CROs and collaborator sites, interpret and analyze data to provide timely updates to project teams, as required
  • Abstract and manuscript writing and prepare posters and talks for presentation

    Requirements:

    Demonstrated expertise in designing and executing all aspects of in vitro and in vivo studies in IBD rodent models

  • Technical skills to perform all aspects of in vivo studies including drug dosing by all routes, blood draws, necropsy and preparation of tissues and organs for in vitro or ex vivo analysis

    Strong hands-on experience with common immunological assays including multi-color flow cytometry, analysis and interpretation of FACS data, tissue culture, blood cell isolation, immune and immune cell activation assays (human and mouse)

    Experience with ELISA, MSD, Luminex, ELISPOT and CTL/MLR desired

  • Experience with mRNA gene expression from in vivo studies

    Ability to work independently within a collaborative work environment

    Excellent organizational, record keeping, oral and written communication skills

  • Lab notebook maintenance
  • Documentation and study report writing
  • Strong interest in clinically directed research

Education and Experience:

  • PhD in immunology, pharmacology or biochemistry, or a related field
  • 4-6+ years postgraduate experience in immunology or inflammation with a focus in Inflammatory Bowel Disease
  • Industry experience is preferred
