Responsible for the overall design of the Celgene’s enterprise solution/information/technical architecture, balancing the need for access against security and performance requirements.
This role is recognized as an expert within enterprise architecture and other IT/business domains; directly influences the outcomes of Celgene’s architecture and IT initiatives; influences business strategies.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Creates technical architectures/roadmaps needed to achieve the desired future landscape.
- Drives realization of existing strategies/roadmaps and updates to desired future state.
- Provides thought leadership to various IT initiatives and leadership teams including hands on delivery of Proof of Concept delivery.
- Understands Celgene’s technical strategies and roadmaps as it relates to Celgene’s overall strategic objectives
- Ensures that all individual solution architecture design and analysis work (particularly as specific solutions are created or upgraded in projects by project architects or solution architects) is documented in a structured fashion matching the EA framework and is stored in a common place.
- Provides thought leadership and position papers regarding new/emerging technologies that are in alignment with overall Celgene IT and Technical strategies
- Understands and advocates the principles of business and IT strategies, as well as of EA development and service delivery.
- Advocates the institutionalization of consistent architecture practices across the organization using Celgene’s IT operating model and frameworks utilizing EA processes like Notice of Decision and technical standards.
- Ensure that project management or solution delivery life cycle efforts and project architects specifically leverage all aspects of enterprise architecture
- Define models, including solution patterns, to guide solution decisions for the enterprise
- Drives annual Technical Standards process
- Deep knowledge of enterprise architecture (in general) and two (preferably more) of the following sub-disciplines: technical/solution, information, and/or reference architecture; proven ability to apply this knowledge within a business context.
- Must have ability to: a) effectively interact with executive and senior management to assess solution/technology requirements and communicate architecture solutions; b) effectively lead matrix projects with global implications; c) create required architectural models and roadmaps; d) integrate architectures at the conceptual and logical levels, and assess appropriate solutions; e) work effectively as a team leader and team member.
- Familiarity with common EA frameworks and key principles (Zachman, TOGAF etc.) a plus.
- Experience with creating Technically focused Strategies and principles
- Bachelor (4-year) degree, with a technical major or equivalent experience
- 10-12 years of progressive IT leadership experience within global, multi-tier environments; recent Enterprise Architecture experience ( information, technical, or solution architecture) strongly preferred;
- Knowledge of Pharmaceutical/Biotech industry processes and technology solutions is preferred. Prior consulting experience is preferred. Demonstrated expertise in long-range planning. Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related study. Advanced degree is preferred.
