Under the direction of the Lead RML, this individual will be responsible for maximizing Celgene’s value propositions through medical and scientific projects, services and expertise, for benefit of patients (according to global or EU strategies). Furthermore he/she coordinates the design and implementation of Medical Affairs programs with District Sales / Business Managers and Development Field Operations and is owner of Medical Affairs execution in the field. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Identifies, develops and maintains collaborative relationships with current and future KOLs, brand advocates, cooperative groups and key external audiences. Develops and implements local KOL plans, with local brand team and in agreement with plans. Implements and disseminates high-quality medical and scientific educational programs. Gives clinical and scientific presentations at sites / cooperative groups / hospital formularies. Identifies new opportunities, implements and follows-up Investigator initiated trials and other Medical Affairs activities. Works with Regional Business Managers to ensure prioritization of key customers. Works with development field operations to ensure support of key development studies (e. g., but not limited to: ensure prioritization of site selection for Celgene-sponsored studies, attendance at Pre-PSVs, SIVs etc.). Develops required qualitative and quantitative reports. Collates competitor information. Ensures medical / legal excellence and compliance  Ensures that local Medical Affairs activities follow Medical Affairs boundary conditions. Organizes internal trainings. Execution and placement of Medical Affairs activities (including Medical Education programs, Investigator Initiated program). Develops and drives local KOL plans and signs-off at his signature level. Tracking and reporting of Investigator initiated trials and other Medical Affairs activities KOL plans and site-specific business plans. Documentation of KOL management activities and other local MA activities. Congress reports /summary slide decks of important national and international congresses. Protocols and other study documents for local Investigator initiated trials.

Skills/Knowledge Required:

  • Strong identification with Celgene’s values.
  • Medical or scientific education or experience from similar positions with 4 years experience in industry.
  • Experience in sales force, affiliate Medical Department or Clinical Development, documented medical or scientific experience in franchise area an advantage. (e.g. subspecialty board certification, academic track record).
  • Documented track record in Medical Affairs or Clinical Development.
  • Scientific research experience and knowledge of commercialization and business practices.
  • Knowledge of Regulatory Affairs, Drug Safety, legal and compliance environment.
  • Network of customer contacts and Medical or scientific experience. 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Continuously expanding medical and scientific knowledge as well as market knowledge.
  • Strong project management and Medical Affairs skills (clinical trial design, clinical data analysis, pharmacology).
  • Advanced scientific / medical reading and writing skills. 
  • Strong customer orientation. Science based and marketing minded.
  • Knowledge of Health System and Health Care decision making.
  • Act as a role model for others.
  • Willingness to travel.
