SUMMARY:

Based in Summit, NJ the Director, Human Resources will provide strategic and operational HR guidance to multiple functions in both our global Hematology/Oncology (Hem/Onc) and Inflammation and Immunology (I&I) franchises, including but not limited to Medical Affairs and Marketing. The individual will work closely with Franchise and HR leadership and be directly involved in implementing key business and global HR strategies. The successful applicant will have experience in large and small organizations, in a US and international environment and ideally will have a strong understanding of the Biotech field. He/she must also possess technical HR proficiency, be a strong team player, be comfortable with making courageous and bold decisions and operating in times of ambiguity. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides both strategic and operational HR support with a key focus on helping the business to achieve or exceed its critical objectives.
  • Works in partnership with global and affiliate HR teams to ensure highest level of alignment across franchises and functions.
  • Leads and participates in enterprise-wide HR projects and initiatives
  • Anticipates future business needs and develops strategies to enhance the value proposition and overall Workforce Planning and Talent Management strategy of the internal and external talent pools
  • Demonstrates behaviors aligned with Celgene culture through open communication and maintaining an enterprise-wide mindset.
  • Works in close partnership with HR Centers of Excellence (i.e. Talent & Leadership Development, Compensation, Talent Acquisition etc). to deliver effective solutions and support to the business
  • Coaches leaders in creating a trust-based culture and develops strategies that drive long-term performance
  • Develops and drives effective resourcing strategies to ensure highest degree of candidate quality and care while also emphasizing speed and efficiency.
  • Partners with business and HR to drive and support overall talent planning and succession planning strategies, rewards strategy and performance management processes
  • Fosters an environment where courage to deal with volatile sensitive issues tactfully and to challenge appropriately is strongly encouraged and consistently demonstrated.
  • Provides strong client relations skills and demonstrated ability to credibly interact with and support senior management.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable government requirements related to laws and regulations.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor Degree in Business or related field; Master Degree a plus
  • 10+ years progressive HR generalist experience

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Ability to work as a team player in a very fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and influence with HR and business teams
  • Ability to provide leadership to junior level HR professionals and demonstrated ability to provide feedback and oversight of the work of others
  • Influences business and HR leaders and quickly earns credibility with limited direction
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated client skills as a business partner
  • Experience working with HRIS systems
  • Experience in pharmaceutical industry and/or assigned functional areas highly desirable
