The Immuno-Oncology (IO) Research Pipeline Manager is a critical role in the Immuno-Oncology Thematic Center of Excellence (IO TCoE) organization that has a significant impact on the I-O discovery pipeline, translational development capabilities, management of key alliances, and overall support of the IO (TCoE). He/she will contribute to management and implementation of the IO TCoE pipeline in collaboration with I-O TCoE leadership and late stage franchise stakeholders and for maintaining IO cutting edge translational development capabilities. The IO Research Pipeline Manager is accountable to IO TCoE leadership and R&ED management.
In addition, Research Pipeline Manager will lead the establishment and execution of integrated plans for the key discovery-stage strategic alliances and internal programs. In this capacity, he/she will serve as a cross-functional coordinator for research programs through discovery to development candidate endorsement. He/she partners with IO TCoE and functional area leaders to ensure that the team has necessary resources and capabilities to execute on projects and platform development efforts.
Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assist I-O TCoE leadership in managing IO portfolio activities including preparing for portfolio reviews, resource planning, tracking program progression, facilitating communication between project teams and IO TCoE
- Aid TCoE heads in development and implementation of the Immuno-Oncology strategy, working across functions and with the Hematology/Oncology and Inflammation and Immunology Franchises
- Collaborate with I-O discovery team leaders, Alliance Management, Global Project Leadership organization to monitor and report on the I-O pipeline on behalf of the TCoE, ensuring resources to deliver on pre-DC projects
- Participate in Joint Research Steering Committees and Joint Development Committees, providing specific Project Management for key IO alliances as needed
- Assist IO TD scientists in creating and implementing IO translational development platforms and research capabilities
- Coordinate Research and Translational activities of the IO TCoE supporting academic collaborators, IITs, translational research initiatives
- Mobilize and align the IO TCoE organization, including driving decision making, to execute on the approved I-O portfolio and program strategy through DC
- Collaborate with GPTs, DSTs, etc to ensure timely development of the translational development and target discovery platforms to support development assets and disease strategy as well as new target identification
- Lead cross functional discovery projects teams through Drug Candidate (DC) nomination; develop program strategy (including risks and mitigation plans that may be needed prior to DC), ensure preparation of the data package for DC nomination, identify potential issues and elevate to appropriate stakeholders in a timely manner; collaborate with Global development Project Leader in preparation for DC nomination
- Leads research project team to devise project goals and objectives
- Drives implementation and development of translational development strategies for the key development stage alliance projects
- Partner with relevant functions to develop effective working relationships both internally and with key external stakeholders (e.g., development organization partners, key opinion leaders and academic experts)
- May directly manage Project Managers
PhD, MD or relevant advanced degree in a scientific discipline with 10 years of multi-disciplinary experience, or Bachelorâs degree with 14 years of experience, in pharma or biotech research and development
